52026-04-25The media could not be loaded. Good item. Even comes with an instruction booklet. I did have to chase the threads where O2 sensor goes, but I usually have to anyways. Put some antiseize on the sensor before install. All the welds look good. I do think the heat shield may need a better tack weld. I took a few pictures of those, but it looks better than the one I purchased at the parts store. Used on a Honda Accord.

52026-06-26I picked up this PHILTOP 2-inch universal catalytic converter for my 2001 VW Cabrio build. I’m working on making a custom exhaust setup and I wanted to include catalytic converters so I can keep the car reasonable and avoid emissions issues during inspection here in NJ. I also do not need the car to be obnoxiously loud. Let’s be realistic, a VW Cabrio, or at least the one I’m building, does not need to be that loud to go that slow.The converter itself looks good in person. The stainless body feels solid, the welds look clean, and the heat shield is a nice feature. Looking through the inlet, the honeycomb inside looked clean and properly seated, which gave me more confidence in the part. It does not feel like a cheap empty shell or a flimsy exhaust piece.This is definitely a universal catalytic converter, not a direct bolt-on part. For my use, that is fine because I am already planning a custom exhaust. You should expect cutting, fitting, welding, adapters, or exhaust shop work depending on what you are installing it on. The 2-inch inlet and outlet size makes it useful for smaller custom exhaust setups and older vehicle repairs.I also like that it has an O2 sensor bung with a plug, which gives some flexibility depending on how you need to build the system. That is helpful when you are laying out a custom exhaust and figuring out sensor placement.Overall, this seems like a solid value for a custom exhaust or repair project. The construction looks good, the heat shield is useful, and the 2-inch size works well for the kind of small-car exhaust setup I am planning. 52025-12-03This is a sturdy, high conversion catalytic converter that should last a long time. Our family has owned a car repair shop for over 30 years. Catalytic converters provide cleaner emissions, improve engine performance and durability, and improve fuel efficiency. We needed to replace a catalytic converter for a 2006 Honda CRV. For the price, this is an excellent after market part.First, it is made of high quality catalyst metals (platinum, rhodium, and palladium) and welded with stainless steel for corrosion resistance. Second, the solid construction along with the honeycomb ceramic substrate offers high heat stability, a higher surface/ contact area, and therefore, a higher rate of conversion. Ceramic is cost-effective for these reasons. Third, the welding is well done and is strong enough to withstand thousands of miles of road bumps and other normal road debris. Lastly, the laser cut provides a precise, no-hassle fit. This kit includes all of the parts for an efficient installation. For the price, this is an excellent value!
